Arkham Intelligence Unveils KOL Tag to Track Crypto Influencers

2 Mins read

Story Highlights

  • Arkham’s KOL tag tracks the wallets of 950 crypto influencers with over 100K X followers.
  •  Justin Sun leads with $590M in assets, followed by Buterin with $523M.
  •  The tool increases transparency by disclosing significant market individuals’ digital holdings.

Blockchain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence has introduced the “Key Opinion Leader” (KOL) tag, allowing users to track notable industry figures’ crypto activity. The new capability is for influencers on X with over 100,000 followers. It currently has 950 wallet addresses linked with top players.

The KOL tag, which was introduced on March 8, will increase transparency by giving real-time disclosure of bitcoin investments owned by significant persons in the cryptocurrency market.  The list also features Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes, and former United States President Donald Trump. Also featured on the list are crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun and Yearn Finance co-founder Andre Cronje. These two are among the most prominent names in the cryptocurrency space.

Monitoring Crypto Influencers’ Holdings

Arkham has been studying blockchain transactions for years to determine market trends. Earlier this year, it followed Buterin’s liquidation of $2.5 million in meme coins donated to his charity, Kanro. In May 2024, the platform also found a Trump-associated wallet with more than $10 million in digital assets, mostly MAGA and ETH tokens.

Justin Sun is one of the top influencers on the KOL list with almost 4 million X followers and three monitored wallets. His biggest wallet has more than $590 million in cryptocurrency, of which $435 million are Tron (TRX). Buterin trails behind with close to 5.7 million X followers and about $523 million in Ethereum.

Some of the other popular names include Tokenize Xchange CEO Hong Qi Yu, who has more than 723,000 followers and $28.31 million in assets. BitMEX founder Arthur Hayes owns $18.32 million worth of digital assets, followed by Dinghua Xiao with $12.33 million. Crypto commentator Murad Mahmudov, aka Muststopmurad, owns $5.27 million in assets.

Arkham Intelligence continues to refine its blockchain analytics tools, making it easier for users to track high-profile crypto figures. The KOL tag makes it easy to access influential wallet information, with investors and analysts able to track leading players and their financial activity in real time.

This facility, in making high-net-worth investors more accessible, also creates privacy and security issues in the world of cryptocurrency. While some may appreciate its openness, others will find it intrusive. The larger the world of cryptocurrency, the more controversial the argument for the interplay between transparency and privacy.
