Gaming behemoth Roblox has started accepting Ripple Labs Inc.’s XRP token as a new payment method, deepening crypto’s penetration into the lucrative gaming sector.

XRP’s use as a payment option within Roblox, which has more than 200 million active monthly users, is made possible via Xsolla, the company that manages Roblox’s in-game payments.

Blockchain payments company BitPay, which announced the development on X, will ensure seamless connections with crypto wallets.

XRP Gains Access To Roblox’s Vast User Base

Roblox’s extensive user base spans all mainstream platforms, from Windows, to macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.

The Roblox platform has become a global phenomenon with users collectively spending $773 million on in-game purchases in just the first quarter of this year, highlighting the enormous potential for cryptocurrency payments.

BitPay’s Relationship With Xsolla

Xsolla’s partnership with BitPay has a rich history that dates back to 2014 when Xsolla first began accepting payments with Bitcoin (BTC).

Over the years, this enduring collaboration has paved the way for innovative payment solutions within the gaming industry. In September, Xsolla and BitPay took a significant step forward by introducing PayPal USD payments for both merchants and consumers.

Xsolla’s Web3 Drive

Xsolla has been at the forefront of integrating cryptocurrencies into its payment ecosystem. The platform’s Web3 drive was continued back in August of last year when Xsolla partnered with Coinchange Financial – an automated cryptocurrency management platform.

Shortly after establishing this partnership, the company also partnered with TradeZing, which is a live-streaming social Web3 platform, to develop a payment solution for non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Xsolla continued its pursuit to become a major player within the Web3 and blockchain space by partnering with Crypto.com in August of this year. Through this partnership, Xsolla aims to incorporate Crypto.com’s checkout solution into its Pay Station platform.
