Binance Smart Chain: October 2020 Flash Report



BSC Transaction volume reached $853 million in October 2020.

Binance Smart Chain (BSC) went live at the end of August and represents an innovative solution to bring dapps, programmability, and interoperability to Binance Chain. 

There are 24 dapps currently live on the BSC chain according to DappRadar and although most went live only a month ago, some have already secured high ranking positions in terms of daily active wallets.

Within this overview, we will analyze transaction volume and daily active wallets of the dapps operating on BSC.

$100 million in funds

Recently, Binance announced that DeFi projects would be the first beneficiaries of a $100 million fund set up to help the ecosystem grow on BSC. 

The new Binance Accelerator Fund is targeting new startups on the BSC platform and according to Binance, after the announcement of the funding was made, about 180 firms registered to be eligible.

It is clear now that Binance is looking for ways to dominate the DeFi space.

BSC Daily active wallets surpassed 15,000 

In terms of daily active unique wallets, the Binance Smart Chain has already gained a strong audience in a very short period of time. Daily active wallets have reached more than 15,000 in October 2020 to-date.

An increase of 45% in October to-date compared to September 2020.

The dapps responsible for the growth are PancakeSwap, BakerySwap, and BSCSwap. 

PancakeSwap and BakerySwap are decentralized exchanges for swapping BEP20 tokens. They use an automated market maker model (AMM). 

BSCSwap supports the trading of Binance Smart Chain BEP20 tokens and is very similar to Ethereum’s Uniswap V2 protocol. 

PancakeSwap is similar to Ethereum’s popular SushiSwap protocol and allows users to yield farm and stake. The dapp surpassed 6,000 daily active wallets and grew by 63% within the last 30-days.

BakerySwap Reached 3,000 daily active wallets while BSCSwap was around 2,000.

If put into the perspective of other top Ethereum DEXs, we spot all top 3 dapps surpassing Sushiswap daily active wallets. By when compared to Uniswap daily activity is at least 10 times lower.

BSC Transaction volume reached $853 million in October

The transaction volume of the Binance Smart Chain has grown tremendously in just over a month. Increasing 40% in October to-date compared to September.

In the chart below we spot the percentage share of the top 3 dapps running on BSC as per DappRadar. The biggest contributors were PancakeSwap and BakerySwap, they hold 53% and 21% respectively of total transaction volume in October. 

Conclusions

Binance Smart Chain might offer competition to Ethereum in the upcoming weeks and months in regard to the developing DeFi Ecosystem. 

PancakeSwap, BakerSwap, and BSCSwap are the biggest contributors to the BSC protocol surge in both daily active wallets and transaction volume. 

Not only do the results of exciting dapps prove the chain to be very relevant. The current fund dedicated to DeFi projects has proved to be a strong positioning statement for Binance in the DeFi ecosystem.
