Ember Sword to Move from Immutable X to Mantle Network

2 Mins read

Bright Star Studios has announced that their web3 MMORPG, Ember Sword, will be transitioning from the Immutable X protocol to the Mantle Network, a Layer 2 solution on Ethereum.

This strategic shift is aimed at improving player control over in-game assets and streamlining the onboarding process for all users.

The move follows a previous migration from Polygon to Immutable X, marking another significant change in the game’s infrastructure.

What does this move mean for players?

The transition to Mantle may require players to migrate their in-game assets to the new protocol.

Whilst specific details about the migration process have not been provided, Bright Star Studios has experience with similar transitions, having previously moved from the Polygon network to Immutable X and players should anticipate a structured process that could take several weeks, similar to the last migration.

“By integrating Mantle’s advanced blockchain capabilities, we are enhancing how players control their in-game assets and delivering an unprecedented onboarding experience for all gamers who love MMORPGs, regardless if they are web3 natives or not, said Mark Laursen, Founder and CEO of Bright Star Studios.

Key Features and Enhancements

Key improvements during the migration include the integration of Mantle’s modular Ethereum rollup technology.

This technology is designed to ensure secure, scalable, and low-fee transactions within Ember Sword, making it easier for players to engage with the game’s economy without encountering high transaction costs or delays.

“Partnering with Mantle allows us to create a more fruitful and engaging player economy,” said Joris Huijbregts, Founder and Chief Development Officer of Bright Star Studios. “We are excited to integrate with the best tools and partners within Mantle Ecosystem to create a scalable and sustainable user journey for our players. This is the future of gaming, where player involvement and control of their items in-game are at the forefront.”

The migration is also expected to simplify the onboarding process, making it more accessible to players unfamiliar with blockchain technology. This collaboration also reflects a broader trend in the gaming industry toward integrating blockchain technology to enhance player experiences.

“Their vision to enable highly accessible, player-centric, blockchain-enabled games aligns perfectly with our mission to enable more gamers to enjoy experiences enhanced with blockchain technology,” added Geezee, Head of Gaming at Mantle.
