Sony Joins Hands with Startale Labs to Build a Blockchain

Sony Network Communications and Startale Labs have officially announced a joint venture that aims to explore and expand upon the growing capabilities of blockchain technology, potentially shaping the backbone of the future Web3 infrastructure. Set to combine their collective expertise, resources, and network of partners, this collaboration anticipates developing a new blockchain.

Bridging Expertise for Future Innovations

The partmership intends to be established as “Sony Network Communications Labs Pte. Ltd.” in September. Through this venture, both entities aspire to make substantial strides in the Web3 space, focusing on creating pivotal Web3 use cases that could drive the widespread adoption of this next phase of the internet.

With a backdrop of Sony’s extensive involvement in diverse business sectors, including entertainment technology, gaming, and financial services, the new venture aspires to provide value-added services across various business domains. This development is a symbiotic blend of Sony Network Communications’ rich experience in communication, IoT, and AI with Startale Labs‘ insights and technical prowess in Web3 technologies.

Sony Network Communications Labs Pte. Ltd. is set to showcase at the ‘TOKEN 2049‘ event happening in Singapore from September 13th to 14th.

Jun Watanabe, the President and Representative Director of Sony Network Communications, expressed his anticipation towards this collaboration. He remarked, “We are excited to announce the establishment of this joint venture with Startale Labs, a company renowned for its advanced Web3 technology and expertise. We aspire to create a global infrastructure that underpins the Web3 era, driving innovation across existing industries.”

Similarly, Startale Labs’ CEO, Sota Watanabe, shared his perspective, highlighting the synergy of both companies’ assets and knowledge as a cornerstone for co-developing a leading blockchain and its ecosystem. According to him, the collaboration aligns perfectly with their determination to identify Web3 trends and promote them globally.

Proactive Web3 Innovations by Sony

In addition to this collaboration, Sony has proactively engaged in other innovative projects. Earlier this year, the company filed a patent facilitating gamers to possess in-game assets as NFTs, potentially allowing them to transfer these assets across games and platforms. Moreover, they joined forces with Astar, a smart contract platform, fostering further advancements in emerging technologies.

Furthermore, Sony recently revealed a new patent for a VR headset that utilizes audio cues from real-world objects to enhance immersion in the metaverse, marking another step in integrating virtual experiences with physical reality.
