Travala, a crypto-native travel platform, has announced a partnership with global travel marketplace Skyscanner, allowing millions of customers to pay for hotel reservations using bitcoin. The integration, announced on September 5, connects Travala’s inventory of over 2.2 million hotels to Skyscanner’s website, allowing travelers to pay using over 100+ cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT).
This collaboration places Travala.com alongside big travel agencies like Booking.com and Expedia. With Skyscanner’s 110 million monthly users completing 80 billion searches per day, Travala.com will get prominence, attracting new consumers interested in alternative payment methods.
Sanja Vukik, Head of Hotels at Skyscanner, praised the collaboration, saying, “By integrating Skyscanner’s search capabilities with Travala.com’s crypto-native platform, we’re offering more flexible options to travelers who prefer alternative payments.”
Growing Crypto Adoption in Travel
Once users select a hotel using Skyscanner, they are sent to Travala.com to complete their reservation. Travelers who use Travala.com’s AVA Smart Program can earn exclusive perks such as a 10% Bitcoin refund and other Web3 travel benefits.
Juan Otero, CEO of Travala.com, highlighted the importance of the collaboration: “By showcasing crypto booking options on Skyscanner, we’re demonstrating the practicality of digital assets in everyday transactions.”
Travala’s presence on Skyscanner allows crypto travelers to easily identify and book travel choices, promoting the wider acceptance of cryptocurrency in travel. With access to over 600 airlines and 400,000 activities in 230 countries, the portal promises low prices and exclusive discounts for cryptocurrency holders.
This integration enhances Skyscanner’s position as a leading travel marketplace while also encouraging cryptocurrency growth among travelers looking for more flexible payment choices.
