Microsoft AI Research Introduces Orca-Math: A 7B Parameters Small Language Model (SLM) Created by Fine-Tuning the Mistral 7B Model

However, incorporating iterative preference learning propelled Orca-Math to new heights, enabling it to reach 86.81% accuracy on the same benchmark. These numbers represent a significant step forward in utilizing SLMs to tackle educational challenges. Orca-Math’s achievements are particularly notable given the model’s size and the efficiency with which it operates, outperforming significantly larger models and setting new benchmarks in the domain.
